En endret gutterolle på vei? Nye kjønnspraksiser i den norske barneskolen
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to investigate gender norms and practices among boys in a Norwegian elementary school. In the following, I will present some conclusions from my Ph.D. thesis Kjønn – barndom –
skoleliv (Overå 2013). The empirical background is based on ethnographic fieldwork conducted in a school
in the eastern part of Oslo, 2008–2009. With this analysis I aim to contribute to the understanding of how
gender is configured in the boys daily interaction and in what respect the material may indicate ”new”
and/or ”old” gender configuration seen in the light of previous studies. The analysis points to the traits of
both stability and change in terms of what kind of norms, practices and experiences boys relate to gender.
