Ungdoms deltakelse i lys av makt og anerkjennelse
Abstract
In this article I use Axel Honneth’s theory of recognition to discuss the prospects that young people
have of experiencing themselves as being participants in Norwegian families. The article presents
studies that are showing that the new «egalitarian» families offer their youth good conditions for
participation; in these families parents are expected to be «loving bosses». Regarding young people’s
prospects for participation as users of mental health and child welfare services I argue, referring to
Honneth’s theory, that they in these contexts experience a double stigmatization; through the social
constructions of both «youth» and «mentally ill».
