Effectiveness of anti-bullying interventions for school children
Abstract
Bullying is widespread in schools, and can contribute to serious health problems for those affected by it. Many anti-bullying programs have been implemented in schools. This article examines effectiveness of anti-bullying interventions described in three systematic literature review articles. Interventions directed at both the individual and the environment level were effective against bullying. The most effective interventions were intensive and sustained school-based activities involving teachers and students and other partners. There is a need for more research on cyberbullying and interdisciplinary cooperation between home and school.
