Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • I, the submitting author, warrant that I shall be the point of contact throughout the peer review and proofreading process (if applicable).
  • I warrant that we have strictly followed the Author Guidelines.
  • I am authorized by all co-authors to submit this version of the manuscript and to be their spokesperson during the review process and beyond.
  • This manuscript – or a very similar version – has not been previously published, or is under consideration elsewhere.
  • The submitted manuscript is original, and that neither it nor any illustration or supplementary material, or any part thereof, are in any way in violation of any existing original or derivative copyright.
  • The submitted manuscript contains nothing obscene, indecent, objectionable or libelous according to generally accepted norms.
  • Any interests that might impair the credibility of the manuscript are disclosed in the cover letter to the Editor, that may be uploaded as supplementary material during step four of the submisssion process.
  • If submitting a research article, I, the submitting author, confirm that the research meets ethical guidelines, including adherence to the legal requirements of the study country. I confirm that all necessary consents and approvals have been obtained, and that the research and publication has been approved by the relevant ethics committee/review board where this is required.
  • The submitted manuscript is anonymised. See Ensuring a blind review.
  • A title page and cover letter should be uploaded as a separate document. See

Author Guidelines

  • Barn – forskning om barn og barndom i Norden accepts the following submissions: original research articles (peer reviewed), book reviews (editorially reviewed) and essays (editorially reviewed).
  • At the stage of submission, all articles must be thoroughly edited and proofread.
  • All submitted scientific articles must be anonymised and a title page for the article uploaded separately. Please see the guidelines pertaining to anonymisation.
  • All authors must fulfil our criteria for authorship. Please see our list of criteria.
  • Manuscripts may be in Norwegian, Danish, Swedish or English.
  • All manuscripts must fulfil the criteria for scientific articles, book reviews or essays. Manuscripts that do not follow the guidelines will not be considered. See author guidelines.
  • Barn has an APC of NOK 2000.00 excl. VAT for accepted submissions.
